In recent years, under Lim Choong's watchful eyes, many basketball school teams of which he had coached have obtained distinctions in the MSSD basketball tournaments. In the year 2009 for instance, the the Under-18 Boys' team from SMK USJ 4 have emerged runner-up in the MSSD tournaments under the Petaling Perdana Zone. In that same year, Lim Choong had been primarily selected out of a number of basketball coaches to coach the Petaling Perdana (Under-15) Boys for the MSSS basketball tournaments. The team seized 3rd placing overall and baffled everyone as it was the first ever team to beat the five-year defending champion, the team of Petaling Utama!

In June 2008, in the wake of its formation, the team from SJBA became the first basketball club in Subang Jaya to emerge champion in the Petaling Zone for the prestigious President Cup, which is the highest level of all basketball tournaments in the Under-18 basketball arena.
