Our Head Coach

The head coach of SJBA, Mr. Yio Lim Choong, demonstrates a dazzling track record and a great deal of experience to share with his fellow trainees. He was a state player for Selangor, from the year 2002-2006. Lim Choong's earliest coaching experience dates back to the year 2001 during his Form Two days of high school, where he coached his own school basketball team single-handedly. the team went on to become the defending champions in the MSSD basketball tournaments for three consecutive years!
-
After Form Five, Lim Choong enrolled into college, where he continued his efforts in coaching many secondary schools around Subang Jaya, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Ahah Alam and Kota Kemuning, to name a few. At present, he is currently the Petaling Perdana District Head-Coach for the boys' team.
-
In recent years, under Lim Choong's watchful eyes, many basketball school teams of which he had coached have obtained distinctions in the MSSD basketball tournaments. In the year 2009 for instance, the the Under-18 Boys' team from SMK USJ 4 have emerged runner-up in the MSSD tournaments under the Petaling Perdana Zone. In that same year, Lim Choong had been primarily selected out of a number of basketball coaches to coach the Petaling Perdana (Under-15) Boys for the MSSS basketball tournaments. The team seized 3rd placing overall and baffled everyone as it was the first ever team to beat the five-year defending champion, the team of Petaling Utama!
-
In June 2008, in the wake of its formation, the team from SJBA became the first basketball club in Subang Jaya to emerge champion in the Petaling Zone for the prestigious President Cup, which is the highest level of all basketball tournaments in the Under-18 basketball arena.

Introduction

The Subang Jaya Basketball Academy (SJBA) was established in the year 2008 as a centre for all basketball enthusiasts in the Klang Valley. When SJBA was first formed, it already received a response of over 120 basketball trainees and the numbers are still increasing!

The SJBA stands out from the rest as an academy that provides the opportunity to train basketball enthusiasts, so that they could improve their skills in an ongoing process and also to provide exposure for players through the various tournaments. It is a platform where everyone can spend their leisure time indulging themselves in healthy and positive activities.

Before such as academy was formed, many young basketball enthusiasts do not receive proper training and guidance. SJBA provides professional coaching on a regular basis and warmly welcomes anyone from all walks of life to particioate as a trainee. The SJBA also plans to invite national basketball players for organized functions and training camps to provide more insights into the game, as well as to give the participants beneficial pointers and tips on how to improve.

The SJBA aims to create a fun, healthy and relaxing atmosphere for all perticipants. In this light, the SJBA plans to organise a host of events which includes many basketball tournaments, 3-on-3 competitions and many more. This atmosphere, it is hoped, will keep the trainees on their feet as they work hard to continuosly improve their skills and look forward for more competitions to come.
